I was so excited a few days ago to learn that one of my closest friends and her partner will be having their first child sometime this summer. Of course, as a mother and friend, learning this brought up all the joy and harried excitement of when my husband and I were preparing to have our child. As the attorney that prepared my friend’s estate plan, I was sure to remind her that welcoming a child means it is time to revisit their estate plan and make updates to the family trust. Any number of major life events warrants revisiting your estate plan which is why we recommend reviewing your estate plan every three years.

Happy planning!
