(formerly The Law Office of Brittany Britton) between 2015 and 2016 and you do not have a “General Assignment,” you should have received an email from my office in the last month regarding this important update about your trust. The “General Assignment” was introduced in 2016 following new case law that makes it even easier to avoid California probate court if, at your death, there was an asset that you failed to transfer into your trust.

I am offering to draft a “General Assignment” for each of these affected clients at no cost. Please look in your email for a message from our office with the subject line “Important Information About Your Estate Plan,” in which we attached a copy for your review. You may get it notarized on your own and return a PDF for our files or retain me for a brief review of your estate plan and have the document notarized then.
